Luca wasn’t really sure how, why or what had happened, all he knew now was that he was very small, well, smaller than he already was anyway. Only about three inches tall, in the walls of a place that rumbled and quaked with footsteps of… what Luca guessed were giants.

He wandered around this place, trying not to be seen, or crushed for that matter, scooting up against walls and scurrying around like some kind of insect…. until he’d finally found a room he thought was unoccupied and he succumbed to the pressure and began to break down in tears.

He knew a day like this would come… and now it had.

Luca got on the ground as quick as he could as the quake continued, each shake of the Earth threw him off, the loud thumping sounding like distant explosions. He tried to keep his breathing to a minimum as he began to cry. Thankfully, Luca was experienced in keeping his weeping quiet, and apart from the very tiny sound of little puffs of breath, he was silent.

“W-what’s that?…” he whispered to the doctor, as quietly as audibly allowed.

The giant thumps got louder as it entered the room. Patches laid low as he keeled down and took a glance at Luca- seeing him tearing up Patches put an arm around their shoulder to comfort them as the door opened for a moment.

then shut again after an agonizing long moment as the foot steps pounded away into the distance. Patches let his breath go as he stood up, looking around the room to make sure. “A human…around here they are as mean as they can get so it’s best to stay out of sight.” Patches looked back down at the child and gestured his hand. “Come, I  know a safe place where they never found me.”
