Today was the day that Patches was supposed to come over for dinner, too bad things were about to get a lot more complicated. Host was in the kitchen preparing when he started to feel very strange. There was a distinct sense of vertigo like he was riding an elevator. When it stopped, he knew something was wrong.

He reached for the table he’d been standing in front of previously but found nothing there and began to panic. He started to move around and bumped into a some sort of wooden post which was not a thing he had in his home previously. “Th-the Host feels the strange post, which was actually-” He stopped short, realization dawning on him. Oh no.

He gripped Patches’ hand a little tighter when he started to talk about going outside and having to watch for people. He was nervous about this.

When their walk finally led them to the front doors, he stopped, trying to get a sense for what was outside. “The walk outside of the Host’s library was empty, with no one currently around to see the two adventurers when they step outside,” he reported.

His hand contact had gotten firm when he felt the small squeeze. Trying to help him stay calm. or at least calm enough not to freak out badly to focus on getting to the base. Patches smiled at him when he was magically able to get the report. It was nice having a companion that could know what’s ahead.

Once Patches reached the door- without letting go of the Host, he reached out one arm and tried to open it again. It was already hard as it is to open it with two hands but one… He grunted and slowly was able to pull the door open and kept his back on it for Host to pass.

@askborrowermedic

Slug was definitely not ashamed of stealing things when he needed supplies. Usually he just found another dimension’s Flug to steal from, but this time he seemed to end up in some kind of doctor’s office. Eh. Whatever.

He pulled out his phone to double check what he needed, and started digging through shelves, pulling out assorted medical equipment for his next genetic experiment.

He wasn’t the only one grabbing supplies from the doctor. The small doctor had been looking through qtips when he heard a tremendous sound coming from outside the cabinet.

With a hushed squeal the hid behind the q-tips. Worried the owner came back early to grab something. Shuffling themselves closer to the jar as he saw the light flood in with someone opening the cabinet.

He appreciated the sentiment, even though he couldn’t help but think about how the person keeping him safe was only six inches tall. But Patches had survived this long at this size, he knew what he was doing.

He took his hand and gave him a nod, indicating he was ready. He tried to think if there was something he could do to make things a little easier, at least with regards to the stairs. “The Host and Patches found themselves floated to the bottom of the stairs.”

When he grasped his palm gently- One would notice Patches skin is very warm. It may be that his average body temperature pretty much all the time. The doctor grinned but before he could say anything the were lifted into the air. Patches panicked a little but calmed down realizing what was happening as they landed on the bottom of the stairs.

“Ha… don’t have to climb down the stairs.” He turned to Host. “Thank you!” That’s when he started leading him through the library carefully. Not going too fast or too slow. “So.. when we get near the front- we will have to make sure there isn’t any humans roaming around the front of the library.”

Once again, Heavy had slept terribly. Instead of fighting himself to sleep, he’d decided to go for a wander around the base. That had then lead to him getting hungry and his feet carrying him towards the kitchen.

Oh well, no harm in an early breakfast. He’d only have another one later with the team.

The Russian opened the fridge and peered inside. He pushed aside a beer and grabbed hold of a sandwich he’d prepared the day before. Just this to keep him going, then make some more for the rest of the day.

Just as he was about to take his first bite, Heavy caught movement in the corner of his eye.

The thumps he could feel in his heels had driven shivers up in his spine. Oh no is it…? Patches went to one of the seats closest to the giant walking in. Though his blood ran cold as he realized it was the most fearsome giant in the entire base.

Who in their right mind gets up this early for foo- Oh. Wait.

Despite that hypocritical thought the borrower darted his gaze around, trying to look for an escape route for himself. Though he did start to back up into the table again. Shivering.

Russell hesitated but he kept his hand where it was. If Patches fell, there wouldn’t be much of a distance and it was a soft landing.

He caught Patches and then reached down so he could go onto the kitchen counter when he wanted to. His eyes widened a bit as Patches seemed to interested in investigating.

“Um, ehehe, a grey face, you know, those weird people who have grey skin and wear the sunglasses,” he said, before he focus see on changing back. Seconds passed and then he was his regular old self again, “They turned me into some kinda shapeshifter.”

He chuckled sheepishly, his cheeks going red.

“But when I sneeze, I randomly change, ehehe,” he admitted.

Patches eyes had do to a double take. Grey faces? He’d never had an encounter with anything like that and it certainly sounded scary. The doctor did hop off of their hand and landed on the kitchen counter without any issues. The doctor tapped his finger on his chin quizzically. Trying to understand that he heck happened to this scout.

“So wait…you can basically change your whole biology on a whim?” He wasn’t sure if he should call that amazing or very unnatural. Probably both Patches. Probably both.

He had to think over that odd response, how could a scout even obtain these abilities? Then again he was only a six inch tall abomination so… Patches sat down on a wooden spoon handle as he wasn’t afraid with Russell around.

“I am kinda curious about it not going to lie.” He spoke. Though jumped from the rather loud sneeze, freezing for a moment from the sight of the attenas before chuckling a little bit. Okay that was actually pretty silly.

The doctor also was nodded graciously at the offer of a drink.

Current circumstances prevented him from putting the flowers in a proper place, so he ended up placing them in a neat pile on the floor by the wall. They wouldn’t get damaged there.

He frowned at the mention of taking the bus. He hated taking the bus when he was normal sized. He couldn’t imagine it when all of the people completely towered over him and could step on him. But what choice did they have? “The Host… accepts this…”

He could hear the hesitance in the Host’s voice. Of Course it was going to be terrifying and more dangerous due to two small people walking around but he really wanted to help him. In order to do that he had follow the only lead he had to fixing this.
“Hey… I’ll.. keep you safe.” That is a very foreign thing Patches had to say. “Just follow my lead and no one is going to know we aren’t even there.“ Patches leaned out a hand to him. Gesturing that he’d help guide him.

He really was grateful that Patches was being so patient and willing to help. While it was true that he had helped the medic during his mysterious size change, he hadn’t expected the tables to turn this way.

He almost reached after him when he pulled away but stopped himself. He was a bit surprised, but accepted the flowers, gently running his fingers over the petals and smiling. “Thank you, Patches. The Host loves them.”

A major part in his chest felt fluttery from the Host smiled. Having no choice but to smile back as he rubbed the back of his head. “I-I just thought of picking something up for you…being that you invited me and all.” Now Patches didn’t think ahead where he was going to put the flowers or with the new turn of events; how.

To make sure Host had a stable ground he placed a hand on Host’s shoulder. Looking around the gigantic hallway and looking back down the stairs with a grimace. “Right so, I know there are things at the place I work at that might help. Though that means having to catch a bus back out…”
