Flug blinked, putting his hand to his chin in thought. How strange. He had never heard of anything like this before. He was even starting to wonder if they could even get Black Hat to his normal size, if whatever it was that was afflicting Patches caused the gun to explode.

“Hmm…Well, it will take me a day or two to build a new gun, but in the meantime do you mind if I run some tests on you, in case the ray gun doesn’t work this time?”

Tests? TESTS? That was the one word that made his blood run cold. It was one of his deepest fears and the thing that got him into his whole ordeal. On the other hand however he felt like it was all his fault and he had to do whatever it really took to get the guy who actually cared enough to try to fix his problem.

He gave a glance at the guy wearing a paper hat and back down to his fingers as they were twitching in nervousness. Patches shoved them in his pockets.

“Well-..I mean if it helps him get back to normal. “

guestsinhisworld:

While Patches read the medical book, Host had reached over and taken to running his fingers across one of the braille manuscripts, proofreading it. His expression fell a bit at Patches’ words though.

“The Host doesn’t get many visitors. Many people think he’s strange or are afraid of him. He’s admittedly become reclusive.”

Patches may have warmed up to him, which he was grateful for, but you couldn’t blame other people too much. People weren’t really drawn to someone who was constantly mumbling to himself and seemed to have perpetually bleeding eye sockets. Worse still if you knew he could bend reality with his words.

Patches smile dissipated upon hearing about the giant’s woes. That didn’t seem fair to Patches- the host seemed really nice and people seem so quick to judge. The little doctor rose up from reading and turned around to face them.

 “I don’t think you’re strange at all.”

He was kicking his foot back and forth as he actually took the courage to reach his hand over to one of his fingers and lightly pat it. “If it’s anything, people don’t really think I’m human…which I guess they’re right. But! I think it’s pretty neat you can tell what’s going on around you without sight.”

golden-gaze:

“That woke you up.” Or that’s what he assumed happened anyway. He tapped on the glass a few times, holding it up and looking at its contents. “You’d look great on my desk,” he mused.

It seems like his plan of just being thrown out wasn’t going to work. Patches covered his nose with his hands to try to heal the bleeding- however due to his stress it was a very slow process as he sat up, inching to the other end of the jar from him. “No! No I look terrible and- uh. skinny!”

eldritchsales:

Black Hat glanced behind him at Patches, raising an eyebrow, then back towards Flug. “Look. Just do something to fix this. I tried to make him…” He pointed with his thumb behind him, “…larger with the shrink ray. Then the ray exploded and now I’m stuck like this.”

Flug blinked. He had never heard of something like that happening with the ray guns before. “And you can’t just…grow?”

“No.”

“…huh. This is going to take some time to look into…um…I take he was already small? That’s…” Huh. He casually slid Black Hat aside so he could talk to Patches. “So…um…is this a normal thing for you? The…being small and not getting bigger thing…”

They did start looking away in guilt when the events had been explained. Letting go of Black hat as he scratched the back of his head. Listening in on their conversation until the attention was put on Patches only. Certainly he was startled and was tapping his fingers together.
“Well- yeah..” He looked down at his boots and just watched his feet as he explained. “I’ve been this height for a long time now and every time I tried to fix it nothing works..”

“That’s just 505. He wouldn’t hurt anyone…unfortunately.” The last word of that statement grumbled under his breath.

The, curious as to why his boss was so small, picked Black Hat up to investigate, holding up to his face. “NO! 505! PUT ME DOWN THIS INSTANT AND JUST GET FLUG!”

The bear tilted his head, a slight look of amusement on his face. “Barooo.” Though he knew from the look Black Hat was giving him, he needed to do as he was told.

505 sat him back down on the table and walked off. It didn’t take long for Flug to rush in. “SIR? What happened? And…um…who’s that?” He pointed at Patches.

He immediately got right back up when he saw the man that just tried to fix him getting scooped up by a monstrous bear thing. Though he wasn’t sure if his involvement would do anything as Blackhat seemed to have it under control. When he was sat down Patches rushed to him and right then was actually checking his arms for bruises. “Oh gosh are you okay!? It snagged you pretty..” When the paper hat rushed in and pointed at him- he yelped and hid behind Blackhat. Looking up while shaking.

guestsinhisworld:

He assumed he must have been referring to his size given that it was the most noticeable and most unusual thing about him. And although he was curious about how such a thing could happen, the tone of the other’s voice made him not want to push the issue. “The borrower is welcome. The Host appreciates the company.”

“I appreciate yours too sir!” And he actually meant that for once instead of just appeasing someone so he wouldn’t get hurt. There was just something about this giant that made him feel safe. When he went back to reading he took the liberty of getting up and turning the page himself- even it was a lot of effort on his end he managed to do it. “I must say your library is very nice! Many people have had to visit.”

golden-gaze:

Well he wasn’t dead at least, but he still wasn’t moving. Maybe he’d passed out? Hm. What to do with him in the meantime?

He went over and opened one of his cabinets, retrieving a glass jar from it which he proceeded to drop Patches in. There.

Face first again as he yelped out in pain. Patches moaned as he actually flopped to his side. Blood was oozing from his noise as he actually started to feel the toll of the running and fighting. He curled up as he stared at the glass- realizing he really was trapped. His shaky stare then did turn to his captor with only mumbles coming out of his lips.
